Gakuen Alice
My older sister actually downloaded this. At first I wasn't tempted to watch it because my sister said that it was so cute. My interpretation of that was it's meant for kids only. From the picture itself, you can tell.
But the music drew me as she played it on tv. I sat down and the pom-pom girl just hooked me. It was cute alright. What about the story? I sat a little longer....
Next thing I knew, I have watched 3 episodes and awaiting the 4th one to finish downloading. ^_^"
The story is basically simple. Sakura Mikan is the cheerful little girl in the picture. The girl on the far left is Imai Hotaru, which Mikan considers her best friend. As for the reverse, well, Hotaru is just the silent type...^_^"" The other two on the right are boys from her class. The dark haired one is the cool (and handsome!) one while the other is his bestfriend.
Anyway, Hotaru got transfered to another school in Tokyo called Alice Academy. Mikan was so lonely without her that she decided to go and find her. So off she went but the guard won't allow her in unless she was enrolled in the school. A teacher from the school found her and sensed something in her. He proceeded to take her in...to enrol her in the school! Now why? Okay, the thing is, Alice Academy is like Hogwarts School of Magic! ;D And somehow, without her realising it, Mikan has a power in her that he sensed that he thinks could bring the school forward
It's in here, that she discovers other kids her age, including her best friend Hotaru, have special Alices. Hotaru's Alice is she is able to create any kind of robot. The black haired boy's Alice is manipulating fire. While his best friend can communicate with animals. What's Mikan's? Well, it was hinted in the beginning and finally revealed in the 4th. Her Alice protects her from harm from other Alices by negating the other Alice in equal force. At the moment she can't quite control it. ^_^"
Another appeal to this anime is that it is so funny! Cute and funny, now that is a lethal combination. Some of the expressions, like shock, reminded me of Azumanga Daioh. The physical violence (yes, there is!) reminded me of Excel Saga. ;D
I give this anime 3 out of 5! :D Okay, I'm off to see episode 5 and 6! ^_^"

The art looks too kiddish... And what is up with this "Alice" thing? The people who made the show probably thought an exotic name (to the Japanese) like "Alice" as a "thing" rather than someone's name would sound cool. Well, it sounds dumb. ;)
Anyway the plot sounds like something I wouldn't be too interested in.
I disagree with the cat owner, this anime/manga is really adorable. Perhaps this person doesn't understand that the word Alice portrays the students' special abilities?
And the name Alice is never an exotic word. It's so Western.
Not that it matters, but Alice Academy is a good watch, it even has a dark side in the story.
Anyway, I have a request from the owner of this blog; do you think you could tell me what happened to episodes 23-26? I know all the episode summaries from 1-22, but not 23-26. Am I correct to presume that you have some sort of DVD where you can watch it to your delight?;) I hope you don't mind me asking, but I'm kind'a desperate about knowing the ending even though it's beeing aired at our cable.
