Never want to read it again! :P

I can't believe how dry this book is! ;P

I made a mistake of choosing this book. Initially I thought that this book, since it was shortlisted for an award, it would be an interesting read. However, the first 3 chapters were about nothing at all that was remotely interesting!

I fear that I am destined to read romance books forever if this is the kind of literature that a lot people recommend. :P But maybe there's still hope. Not for this book I'm afraid, but maybe other award winning books. It might be a while before I attempt to read another serious literature but I shall not give up.

Never let me go in the first chapter introduced this girl reliving the days she was at this place, I assume is a boarding school of sorts. In that school there was this boy with irregular temper that she "seems" to like. The following chapter tells about the place they live in and the things they do a little bit more. But it's still puzzling, like why is it they consider an art piece they create over the semester so important and why selling it would be the only way to get nice things for their rooms? Are they that secluded and out of touch with the outside world? :P Third chapter introduces a school nurse who seems "sane" compared to the rest. They hinted on the truth of the "situation" of that school but not too clearly.

All in all, the more I read, the more confused I got and the more I lost interest in finding out what happened next. :P I would give this book a 1 out of 5. I don't think I would bother to read finish the book at all...

Don't you know already?
Almost always, books that are bestsellers don't win (or get nominated for) awards and award-winning books aren't bestsellers!
It's probably because those that look into selecting books for awards and such are looking for something else... maybe how "literarily artsy" the books are, but not necessarily how enjoyable the book is to the normal person on the street.
It's just like those artsy movies or even artworks. Popular (as in focused for "the common person") works make more money that artsy fartsy stuff that art directors or some artsy film critic would like. :D
So... next time if you want a boring book, chances are you would get one if you chose one that had anything to do with some book award. ;D Unless of course, the award is based on sales. ;)
